victoria hotel redevelopment

The Yindjibarndi Aboriginal Corporation (YAC), along with the project’s funding partners, are redeveloping Roebourne's Victoria Hotel. The project will restore the building to its early 1900s architectural form and facilitate tourism, training and business opportunities to support economic development in the community.

The Victoria Hotel redevelopment is more than just a building upgrade – it is a step towards reinvigorating the town of Roebourne. The project is as much about supporting the community and fostering collaboration as it is about giving new life to an historic icon.

BUILDING COMMUNITY ENGAGEMENT

We are actively seeking involvement from community groups. We are engaging with schools to connect the next generation to the town’s past, present and future; we are engaging with TAFE to offer training opportunities for all students; and, we are engaging with correctional facilities to further the personal development and employability of those on pre-release programs.

ACHIEVING COMMERCIAL SUSTAINABILITY

To ensure the long-term success of the project, attracting commercial tenancies is a priority. The Victoria Hotel is a Roebourne icon, and achieving financial sustainability will ensure it continues to be at the heart of this vibrant and diverse community.

CREATING A COMMUNITY HUB

The ground floor of the redeveloped Victoria Hotel will play an integral part in the reinvigoration of Roebourne’s town centre. The space will be a hub for food, culture and community – a place where great things happen! We see community engagement as integral to the design of this new cultural hub, and encourage everyone to have their say in its design and direction.
